The Application of IT in Management of Staff Profile

Information Technology revolutionized the way business is operated, which is in every aspect of the business. Information Technology has had a major impact on the way business is conducted: IT advances and the reliance on the computer driven environment had significant implications on corporate governance and the system of internal control. Especially in the field of governance, wherein state government can easily transact and serve their people through the use of latest technology. The increase of dependency on Information Technology is somehow threatening for any organization but the demand is intensive that government agencies ought to be updated on the current needs of its citizens. In the aim of being competitive internationally, the governments started its initiative to adopt IT in their operations. Every ministries and department were given adequate technology which was used to serve their people. ICT tools are used in generating employment and in developing their public services by progressively gaining the benefits of new technologies. However, implementing e-government projects as the main concern national projects is complicated, given the burden on limited human and financial resources resulting from strong and challenging pressures for growth.


IT can be applied to the management of staff profiles by using a database which can store a large number of data and must be protected to avoid errors and lost of information. A database which can be used by the workers and the HR department in the keeping of the worker’s profiles and which can be easily accessed by the managers. The ministry may adopt a new system which will speed up processes and makes information readily available to authorized people.

Addressing Challenges

Challenges that the IT systems once it is adopted are the following:

  • The vulnerability of IT wherein it is more prone to hacking and viruses which may crash the database that will be used.
  • The knowledge of the workers regarding the new system which may still cause some error if the IT system is not properly used.
  • Budgetary concerns of the organization which may affect the full implementation of the IT system within the agency.
  • Changing of policies and culture which were present in the ministry and had become part of the working environment of the organization.

These challenges can be addressed by a concrete plan which is based on in-depth study and is agreed upon by the members of the organization. This is to ensure that the application of a new system will not be apprehended and overrated based on the needs of the company. The e-government plan of the government should support the ICT initiative of different ministries and agencies. Different roles are played by the regulators, industry and civil society in forcing the E-Government agenda to success. Policy makers will need to develop new models which will be used to serve the needs of the e-government stature and the agencies.
