The Information and Technology in the business of desktop publishing have become broad and is used by all the larger newspaper and magazine companies, as well as by a fast increasing faction of smaller magazine publishers. These growths have resulted in the weakening of design and editorial standards because operators now oblige a broader variety of talents that are derived from differently oriented authorities. An augment in poor grammar and typographic mistakes are hard to recognize if the work is being carried out mainly by editors/writers, but it may be owed to the difficulty of proofing on monitors or to too many editors still being amateurish, given the rapid growth of desktop publishing.

The company’s skill to compose meaningful images, video and sounds are as significant as the knack to create forthcoming text. The utilize of typefaces is as we know the oldest but most common mistakes, and it can make a desktop published work look sloppy and puzzling opposing to the design examples does have an apparent and skilled image. Don’t use too many font colors and special effects because placing a text over a darkly shaded or complicated designed guide, overusing rotated text, and including too many unevenly shaped text blocks can make a page look perky and make reading complicated. The graphics and texts are just balanced and make the most important photo larger or readers won’t know where to look first.

But don’t jam-pack too much information onto a sheet. This can make information hard to find. In creating a hole of the white gap within a page makes it dull because white space can prevent a page from looking busy and threatening. However, it is ensnared inside other elements; it interrupts the flow of text and graphics.

The color is an important factor in designing a certain publication as this provides the life of each publication. However, colors must be properly used wherein it must be in accordance to the theme of the publication. Both publications used navy blue as the main color. However, the use of blue and shades of blue was different in both designs. The first publication used blue, brown, black and green in the design. This lessens the symmetry of the design and sometimes lessens attraction from the clients. The second publication used navy blue, purple and other shades of blue as the main motif of the leaflet. This shows unity in colors and a more acceptable design for readers.

The second feature that must be taken into consideration is the white spacing and symmetry of the designs. The white spacing in the first publication was larger but somehow it was not organized properly by the artist. Pictures were included in the leaflet without the use of proper styles and symmetry. The second publication can be seen more attractive as the white spacing was properly used with shapes and styles pleasing to the eyes as a reader.

The last feature to the delved into is the use of fonts and styles. Enlarging the fonts or highlighting with different colors implies that the word or phrase is important. In the first publication, there are no uniform font color and font styles. The second publication has a uniform color of fonts and styles which can be more appreciated by the readers. The important words were enlarged. Titles within the leaflet were properly highlighted to show the division of articles and the importance of each word.
